Why TLR for my custom knee brace?
At TLR our bracing specialist Rodney Bogart is a Certified Athletic Therapist with 20+ years experience fitting professional athletes, weekend warriors and pre/post surgery individuals in need of custom bracing. Athletic Therapists are experts in the injury and recovery process, and know how your knee problem fits into your work, play, and life. Rodney is also trained to identify conditions that don’t require custom bracing, and can suggest treatment alternatives in that case. As well, at TLR we ensure your brace continues to serve your needs. If you have issues with the fit, questions about how and when to use the brace, or any other concerns, we’ll gladly answer your questions and find solutions.
What is a custom knee brace?
A custom knee brace is a medical appliance that is manufactured based on precise measurements of your leg, and tailored for your specific injury. Custom knee bracing can be a simple and effective way to reduce pain, prevent injury, and resume your activities. It is the most effective way to both stabilize and protect the knee joint. We offer the top two brands in the industry manufactured by Donjoy and Breg. These braces are rigid, doubled hinged and light-weight.
How do I know which brace is right for me?
Rodney will assess your knee problem and activity level to determine which brace is ideal for your specific situation. Every client is unique at TLR and we offer a variety of bracing options. Measurements are made without making a cast model of your leg and the turn-around time for ordering the device is approximately two weeks.
What conditions can custom bracing help?
Custom knee braces are used for the following conditions: ACL deficient knees, MCL/LCL laxity or injury, pre and post-operative knee injuries , meniscus damage, osteoarthritis and osteochondritis dessecans.
Can I use my knee brace for physical activities?
Brace yourself and continue your favorite activity! Many of our clients have continued to participate in regular exercise and recreational activities, such as hockey, soccer, golf, motocross, water sports and gardening, thanks to the custom knee braces we’ve fitted them with. Also, our braces are contoured to fit easily underneath most types of clothing, including athletic wear.
Will my brace be covered by insurance?
Most extended health benefits will cover the costs of a custom knee brace. A prescription for a knee brace may be required from your physician. Contact your insurer, as coverage details may not be specifically outlined in your benefits package. Contact TLR Sports Therapy @ 613-955-8866. We can guide you through each step of this process.
Knee injuries can affect every aspect of your life. Bracing is an option to allow you to continue with your sport or return to activities of daily living.
Ankle sprains are one of the most common injuries seen in our clinic. With proper support, individuals can return to work and play sooner.
Carpal tunnel and wrist sprains can leave you unable to perform. Supporting these injuries by bracing can aid in your recovery.
Dislocation and subluxations are very common work and sports related injuries seen in the clinic. Bracing can allow for greater protection and support upon return to physical activity.
Lower back and postural dysfunction are very complicated issues. A back brace is used to prevent or restrict painful movements, such as twisting or bending forward, backwards or to the sides.
One of the most common work related injury is elbow tendonitis from repetitive use. Bracing can give comfort and allow you to get back to work.
